Walgreens Launches Spanish-Language Web Site for Hispanics

Walgreen Co. became the first national pharmacy retailer to launch a Web site designed specifically for Hispanics. The Spanish-language site provides drug information, an online prescription refill form, a store locator and directions on how to use some of the services on Walgreens.com.

"Our Puerto Rico stores and other locations that serve Hispanic communities have told us about the need for this kind of resource," said Tim McCauley, Walgreens director of E-commerce. "It's a great opportunity to extend our online healthcare services to millions of people."

Walgreens was the first pharmacy chain to fully integrate its online pharmacy with its retail locations, offering patients the ability to view and update their personal prescription history while online. Walgreens full-service online pharmacy was launched in 1999, and its online drugstore debuted in 2000.
