September is here, and for many of us, it feels like back to school, and that's not just those of us who have kids! I was just reading a piece by one of my favorite newspaper columnists who said that September seems more like a "new year" than New Year's Day to most of us.

The hazy summer days are over, and (I pray) the days will soon be getting cool and crisp, so why not take advantage of that shiny new-pencil feeling and take stock of your business? Make a list of the new strategies you want to implement, new products you may want to offer, or old ones you may want to finally ditch. To help you to that end, check out this issue's Q & A with Rebekah Hughes of personal finance site The Motley Fool about how they used surveys to help decide their new product offerings.

Here at MyEZsale we are recovering from the frenetic travels of the summer, and getting in gear our Fall calendar. In our own recently run survey, it was great to hear feedback from so many of you. We learned that some of the biggest topics on your mind are finding inventory at a price low enough to be profitable (40.7% of you), and effective marketing/driving traffic to your site (29.6% of you).

Also, several of you said you'd like to see more features on nuts-and-bolts topics like building a Web site and shopping carts. So, those are two of the topics we have on our docket going forward this autumn, along with many others.

While I'm on the topic of our articles, I'd like to mention to everyone that we are open to new writers. If you have an area of expertise or an instructive experience to share, drop me a short note about it at Julia@myezsale.com, and I'll let you know if it's something we'd like to run. Pieces are between 500-1500 words or so, and you'll get a link to your Web site (or eBay ID, or any other contact info you prefer) at the end of the piece. You don't have to be a "professional" writer! In particular, we are looking for articles about using Web site design software such as FrontPage and Dreamweaver, and comparing shopping cart software. Author guidelines can be found at http://myezsale.com/cab/pages/write.

Also in this issue, we address one of those most pressing issues: marketing. One of its mainstays is the in-house mailing list. Be sure to check out the best ways to grow your own, by Lynda Partner, a co-founder of GotMarketing.com.

Finally, I just want to remind everybody to check out our forums. One of the busiest threads right now is the "Please Introduce Yourself" Topic, at http://www.myezsale.com/forums/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2

Pop in, pull up a chair and let us know who you are and what you sell, and meet some of the other ezsalers. You never know, that board-mate may be your next customer. ;)

See you next issue!
